OUR STORY

Kelsey and Baird met at Revolver, a bar in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood, in April of 2017 (Naturally, Baird remembers the timeline because he had attended Supercross earlier that evening). Initially Baird noticed Kelsey’s leather jacket and tattered Zeppelin t-shirt — her first brownie point. He initiated a convo by asking Kelsey to “name three songs.” Kelsey hated  being put on the spot and after naming two songs she quickly transitioned the conversation to how they wound up in Seattle. Kelsey told Baird she was from a small town he wouldn’t know of called Lompoc. She couldn’t believe (she actually thought he was lying) that Baird had not only heard of Lompoc but that he had family there. They then chatted about their favorite spots in the city and discussed the finale of the HBO show Girls which had just aired a few days prior. The interaction was brief but memorable, and while Baird left the night intrigued, he also left without asking for her number.

After a few weeks, determined to continue their conversation, Baird asked his friend Greg (who shared a few mutual friends with Kelsey) to help get her number. From there it was full court press until she agreed to see him. For their first date Baird took Kelsey to El Chupacabra, a Tex-Mex restaurant in Seattle known for margaritas and veggie options — Baird’s first brownie point. After dinner they walked to a nearby dive bar and stayed out late playing darts, laughing and dancing.

For their second date Baird invited Kelsey to his house for dinner. He cooked veggie enchiladas from a recipe he found online. On this date Kelsey learned Baird had a son, Max, who was two at the time. She also learned Baird owned minimal furniture and had two poison dart frogs.

In the months following they spent more and more time together. That summer was filled with boat days on Lake Union, camping trips, e-bike rides along the water to the baseball stadium and grilling in Baird’s backyard. Conversation was easy, they always had so much fun and they shared a lot of the same values. Kelsey loved seeing Baird as a father and admired his loyalty to his friends and commitment to his work and his (many) hobbies. Baird loved what a compassionate hard-worker Kelsey was and that she often put other people's needs ahead of her own. She was accepting, supportive and a natural beauty.

Fast forward 7 years, they are now living in San Francisco with Max, two dogs (Obi & Kimchi), and a gecko (Thunderspike) - and they are getting married!
